The research of Liz Hadly, the Paul S. and Billie Achilles Chair of Environmental Biology at Stanford University and a member of the Snowmastodon Project® science team, clearly illustrates the old adage that “the only constant is change.” She has conducted research around the globe, exploring how climate change and other global forces have affected our planet’s animal diversity. By gathering clues from the Ice Age extinction of the megafauna to examining current warming global temperatures, Hadly has built a history that shows how the animal kingdom has responded and adapted to change. What do these findings mean for the future of biodiversity on Earth?
